First and hopefully not last

I got accepted into LaSalle University's Master of Professional Communication program! It's not my first choice but they have certainly been the most attentive during the application process. It's the small things, like a letter thanking me for applying, but it makes an impression.

My fingers are still crossed for Temple. They apparently haven't received my GRE scores yet so I had them sent again just in case. The graduate secretary must be so sick of my emails by now.

More snow soon,

erica

Because I love my readers...

I changed my xanga skin so that you (aka Jon Vaitl) can more easily comment on my posts. I'm all about giving the people what they want. It wasn't an easy choice being that I didn't like any of the options, including this one - it was the most tolerable though. I'd find a layout that I really liked, and then one graphic would ruin the whole shabang for me..."take me away with the wind"...."so lonely"...."find yourself in the sky." Why so melodramatic? Gosh.

Phone home

I'm in New Jersey this weekend for my grandfather's birthday this Sunday, his first without my grandmother. To keep with the tradition, my mother and I are making him the birthday dinner my grandmother made for him each year - roasted lamb. He's become very fond of cooking and in fact makes something different each day. I think it's his way of feeling like she's still there, having an authentic meal each night. As a gift, I got him an asparagus steamer, and I have a feeling he's going to love it.

If you have a March birthday, have a happy one. It seems like there are a lot of March babies - I guess June is a hot and wild time of the year?

:)

p.s. Like the new Xanga skin? I've never seen the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun" but I love Italy and would love to visit there again. So beautiful.

Pick-Up Trucks

I've recently developed a resentment towards men who drive pick-up trucks. I'm sorry if you're one of them, are related to one of them, or love one of them - I still think you're great. If any one of those cases apply, please pass on the message that 1) the size of your truck doesn't mean jack in relation to other things, 2) hanging fake testicles from your hitch is disgusting and only proves you're overcompensating, and 3) one day you will road-bully the wrong person. I can think of a few stubborn old bitties who will slam on their brakes just so they can fault you; or the alternative: a north jersey italian driving a cadillac

In other vehicle-related news, Rachel and I identified an abandoned car part as belonging to one President Kim Phippsie, who accidentally dismantled it when parking near a snow mound:

As you can tell, we are commited to the transportative safety of our president. It's no laughing matter.

p.s. the book i'm reading is hysterical...it's basically just this guy's personal definition/commentary for a bunch of random things. It looks like this:

divorce
The easiest divorce around: Pueblo Indian women leave their husband's moccasins on the doorstep and - that's it - they're divorced. Simple as that. No lawyers, no fault, no socks, just shoes.

Who dreads a Friday?

Last night I was lamenting over the fact that today would be Friday, my last chance to study for Saturday morning's GRE. My good friend and coworker, Rachel, is taking it as well and the only "light at the end of the tunnel" for us is the pancake breakfast that we promised ourselves when we're finished. Mmmm, chocolate chip perhaps? Extra whip cream? ;)

Someone please watch Justin Timberlake's new video for "What Goes Around" - I guess this is his way of transitioning to acting? Anyway, I found myself downloading all kinds of stuff for my browser just so I could watch it.

lame-o,

erica
